TONY CASTRO is a Harvard and Baylor University-educated historian and bestselling author of seven books, including the landmark civil rights history Chicano Power, which Publishers Weekly praised as “brilliant… a valuable contribution to the understanding of our time.”

Tony’s newest book is Mantle: The Best There Ever Was, published by Rowman & LIttlefield. It completes his Mickey Mantle Trilogy that includes Mickey Mantle: America’s Prodigal Son and DiMag & Mick: Sibling Rivals, Yankee Blood Brothers. The New York Times hailed Tony’s Mickey Mantle: America’s Prodigal Son as the definitive biography of the baseball icon.

He is also the author of critically acclaimed biographies of Ernest Hemingway, Hemingway and The Lost Generation, and of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, Gehrig & The Babe: The Friendship and The Feud. He is currently working on a biography of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Tony and his wife Renee LaSalle live in Los Angeles with their black Labrador retriever Jeter. Their two grown sons also live in Southern California.
